Welcome to the Binghamton Umpires Association Web Site.  If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a member, additional information is listed on the "About Us" page.  If you need umpires for your league or tournament, contact the Assignor listed on page two.  Meetings are held at the Moose Club, Henry St., Binghamton, New York.

Rating Form
To download a copy of the BUA Rating Form see the instructions on the Handbook page.

Here’s a great article about umpire abuse:

If you are umpiring any ASA tournaments you should periodically check for rules clarifications.  They post these about every other month.  Go to www.softball.org and click on the “Umpires” tab and scroll down to “Rule Clarifications and Plays”.  There is a lot of good stuff there.

American Legion umpires:
The only composite bats that are allowed are those with BBCOR certification.  Also, make sure all base coaches (including adults) are wearing a helmet.  For a copy of the American Legion rules go to http://www.legion.org/documents/baseball/baseball_rules.pdf.

Andy Grecko Memorial Scholarships:
The 2011 scholarship winners were Maria Newman [Hancock] and Nick McCullough [Norwich].  The BUA would like to thank all those who participated in the Umpires Tournament which makes these scholarships possible.  If you are a coach or Athletic director of one of the high schools that we service and would like to nominate a high school senior for one of these scholarships please contact one of the officers listed on the “About Us” page.

We get Letters:
BUA services softball and baseball leagues and tournaments from Owego to Deposit, from Town of Binghamton to Norwich.  We hear from those we service and (without bragging) we get great reviews!  Check out a few of the letters we have gotten during the 2010 season from satisfied tournament directors and league presidents on our “About Us” page.

Doug Harvey’s Induction into the Hall of Fame:

Rules and Rules Changes:
It would be a good idea to periodically check for rules changes and updates.  Here are some places to go:

Adult Baseball: www.msblnational.com
ASA: www.softball.org.
